El Paso Barroco presents Angels, Demons, and Nymphs, an exhilarating evening of French Baroque music exploring myth, poetry, and the timeless theme of love as a bridge between the human and the divine.
The concert features tenor Dr. John Daugherty, Assistant Professor and Director of the Opera Program at the University of North Florida (UNF), who will perform Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Thétis. This secular cantata tells the story of the sea goddess Thetis, known in Greek mythology as the mother of Achilles. In the French Baroque tradition, the singer serves not only as a vocalist but as a narrator and dramatic guide, leading the audience through the myth with expressive storytelling.
